The information in your PDA

Many of the solutions provided by SMS Nordic are based on the idea that the user is has a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) for storing and retrieving information from SMS-messages. Specially designed PDA's are not required in order to utilize the SMS Nordic solutions. It is possible to use the products from traditional producers like Psion, 3Com, HP, Ericsson, Compaq and others.

The range of applications of the PDA is not limited to SMS communication; a PDA also operates as an electronic calendar, address book, word processor and calculator. To communicate, the PDA has to be connected either to a mobile phone, by a cable, or wireless.

In order to obtain maximum benefit from the capacity, information content, and the user friendly SMS-message, SMS Nordic are developing customer applications for PDA's which are interpreting the standardized information delivered with the message. The information is presented to the user in a simple manner using radio buttons and drop-down list boxes in a standard graphical display.

An ordinary SMS-message is limited to 160 characters. This can be extended to 800 characters using SMS Nordic's link protocol. Because of message space limitations, explanations as to what every item in a message represents can be avoided if the message is interpreted by a specially developed application in the PDA.

The SMS Nordic PDA applications are custom-built according to the requirements of the user(s). SMS Nordic are currently developing customer applications in Epoc, or in Windows CE.
